Licensing
OpenLeads is open source under the GNU AGPL-3.0-or-later, with a commercial license for teams that can't meet the AGPL's terms. Copyright © 2026 Samyar Shafiee.
#Do I need to pay?
Almost certainly not.
| What you're doing | What you need |
|---|---|
| Running OpenLeads to find leads and send email, for yourself or your business | Nothing. Free. |
| Using it inside your company, agency or startup | Nothing. Free. |
| Changing the code for your own use | Nothing, as long as you don't distribute it or offer it to others over a network. |
| Shipping a modified version, or letting others use it over a network (a hosted tool, SaaS, an API) | Publish your full source under the AGPL, or buy a commercial license. |
| Embedding OpenLeads in a closed-source product | A commercial license. |
The leads you find and the emails you write are yours. The AGPL covers the OpenLeads code, not your data or your output.
#Commercial license
Email samyar.shafiee2009@gmail.com with your company, how you'll use OpenLeads, and rough scale. Small teams and early startups usually get a nominal fee. Details: COMMERCIAL-LICENSE.md.
#Earlier versions
Versions up to and including 4.0.1 were released under the PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0 and keep it. Everything from 4.5.0 on is AGPL.
#Contributing
Pull requests are licensed under the AGPL, and you agree they may also ship in commercially licensed versions. That's what makes the dual license work. You keep your copyright.
